Marius von Brasch - Kindheitsschlaf Series of twenty one canvases (on this page details) Acrylics on canvas. Each 30 x 40 cm. 2003-5 Kindheitsschlaf is a German word for the state of mind in childhood (and adulthood) when one gazes, daydreams and discovers worlds in the patterns of one's environment. A friend told me that scientists observe in our time and Western world the vanishing of this 'own' space for children - a development that may lead eventually to the empoverishment of creative fantasy. I felt there is a connection between the way this series has evolved and daydreaming: gazing into signs and traces, random memories and inventing possibilities.
